Abstract
575,157. Fuel injectors. FRASER, R.P. Aug. 31, 1943, No. 14207. [Class 7 (iii)] [Also in Group: XXIX] A fuel injector comprises a nozzle body 1 with a conical valve or pintle 4 raised by fuel pressure in a chamber 2, after air pressure in a chamber 5 has been released, to allow fuel to issue through a conical outlet 3. The valve 4 may have a flared end 4b which projects well beyond the end of the nozzle body 1. A spring may supplement the air pressure acting on the back of the valve 4. In the system shown in Fig. 5, injectors 7 ... 10 of a Diesel engine are supplied with fuel from a chamber 13 subjected to the air pressure and a rotary distributer 16 is provided to allow the air pressure from the back of each valve to exhaust.
