Abstract
342,478. Nozzles for sprayers. HESSELMAN, K. J. E., Storangen, Saltsjo, Sweden. Dec. 27, 1929, No. 39577. Convention date, Jan. 2. [Class 69 (iii).] In spraying nozzles which impart a whirling motion to liquid fuel comprising a sleeve and plug, the sleeve has a hemispherical conical or similar end containing the discharge orifices, and the plug has cylindrical borings in register with the discharge orifices. The fuel supply channels enter the cylindrical borings eccentrically. Radial discharge orifices 2 are provided in the hemispherical end of the sleeve 1. Cylindrical borings 4, coaxial with the orifices 2, and of two to four times their diameter, are formed in the plug. Fuel supply grooves 5 in the plug enter the borings 4 eccentrically. The fuel entering the borings 4 whirls intensely and effects the atomization of the discharge. In a modification, a common fuel supply passage is provided for two discharge orifices.
