Abstract
719,585. Spray-producers. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. July 21, 1952 [July 26, 1951], No. 18419/52. Class 69 (3). [Also in Groups XI and XXVII] An atomizing injector for liquid, e.g. liquid fuel, for use in a duct through which air is circulated, comprises a generally cylindrical body 1 adapted to be mounted with its axis generally parallel to that of the air duct, and containing an axial fuel intake cavity 3 from which the fuel passes through passages 7 to cylindrical chambers 6 annularly disposed around the cavity 3 with their axes generally perpendicular to the axis of the body 1, each passage 7 being inclined to the axis of and eccentric relatively to a chamber 6, and the fuel is discharged through atomizing holes 9 as conical sprays directed radially 'with respect to the axis of the body 1. The holes 9 are formed in a sleeve 8 closing the outer ends of the chambers 6 and fitted over a reduced portion of the body 1, being locked against a shoulder 10 on the latter by a cap nut 11 screwed onto an extension 1b of the body. In a modified construction the chambers 6 and orifices 9 are arranged in two rings axially spaced along the injector body 1.
