Abstract
565,299. Injection nozzles. LAGONDA, Ltd. (formerly WYNDHADZ HEWITT, Ltd.), GREEN, G. W. A., and COBB, W. R. Oct. 20, 1943, No. 17286. [Class 7 (iii)] To produce a fuel jet having a dense core surrounded by a thin envelope of very finely atomised fuel, the, or each, spraying hole in an injection nozzle 1 is stepped to provide an inner portion 5 preferably having a length equal to about twice its diameter and a wider outer portion 6 preferably of a length equal to about six times that diameter and having a diameter about 10 to 20 per cent greater than that of the inner portion.
