Abstract
503,432. Liquid - fuel injectors. BRYCE, Ltd., and GREEN, G. W. A. Oct. 27, 1937, No. 29347. [Class 7 (iii)] Longitudinal passages in an. injector permit circulation of a cooling liquid through an annular chamber formed by covering an annular recess 4, in the outer surface of the injector body 2, with a tubular sheath 10. The longitudinal passages may be drilled through the body 2 or as shown may be formed by longitudinally extending flats 5 which are covered by the tubular sheath 10. The cooling liquidis fed to and from the passages by inclined ducts 8. The tubular sheath 10 may be formed of copper which is either secured in position by spinning or rolling parts adjacent its ends into annular grooves 3, 7 or clamped between a resilient rubber packing ring, abutting an outer block portion 1 of the injector, and a second packing ring, by means of a cap screwed on to the nozzle end of the injector. In a multicylinder engine the injectors may be connected in parallel to two manifolds, one serving to supply and the other to discharge the liquid from the injectors.
