Firing appliances.-Relates to smallarms of the kind in which the usual trigger is replaced by a thumb-operated lever, and consists in arranging such a lever A with a pivot A<1> at one end, a thumb-piece B at the other end, and an intermediate projection D adapted to engage a notch E in the firing pin F. The lever is held in engagement with the firing pin by a spring G or by several springs, for example, a weak spring to take the initial pressure and a stronger one to take the final pressure. The thumb-piece B lies in a recess C in the stock C<1>, and this recess is covered by a movable plate, acting as a safety device when in the closed position.
