Abstract
170,787. Matthews, H. Jan. 21, 1921. Sliding bolts.-A sliding door bolt d is retained in the shot position by the engagement of a transverse spring f in a recess e. The bolt slides in the guide c of the plate b and longitudinal members l, hare secured to the plate on either side of the guide. The spring f is riveted to the member h at g and has a plunger i at its other end, projecting through a hole j in the member l, which has a recess k to allow the spring to be depressed. Pivoted to the member l at s is a plate m, which covers the pin i and is retained in position over the member l by a spring p fitting on projections on the member. A recess n is cut in the plate m in which fits the pin i. When the bolt is shot, the spring f snaps into the recess e and is released by pushing aside the plate m and depressing the plunger or pin i, when the bolt can be withdrawn by its handle. A piece r is secured to the member h to make its height equal to that of the members I, m, and the attaching-screws are hidden by the members m, r.
