Breech actions, movable barrel other than dropdown.-Relates to pistols such as the slaughtering pistols described in Specifications 25471/13 and 139,284, in which the barrel a is pivoted on a vertical pivot b to the breech-frame. T, and consists of the combination of a sliding extractor o housed in the barrel portion with a fixed cam g on the breech frame adapted to engage a finger i on the extractor to move the extractor outwards against a spring k when the barrel is swung to the open position. The pivot b has flats e, f adapted to be engaged by a bolt c to lock the barrel in its extreme positions. In the fully open position, the finger i of the extractor lies beyond the cam g and acts as a yielding spring catch holding the barrel in the open position. The cam g may be arranged to move the extractor inwards as well as outwards, thereby ensuring the complete action of the extractor even if the spring k fails.
