Abstract

148,719. Pieper, N. Dec. 10, 1919. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to bolt-action rifles in which the reciprocation of the bolt is effected by a slide beneath the barrel positively connected to the bolt, and consists in providing a manuallyoperated spring catch for locking the slide when the bolt is in its closing position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bolt 2 is connected by a rod 6 to the slide 4, which is locked to the barrel 3 when the bolt is in its closing position by a spring catch 9 adapted to be disengaged by one finger. In the form shown in plan in Fig. 3, the catch takes the form of a pin 12, adapted to engage holes in the rods. 6 and in lugs 11 on the barrel, and operated by a spring push 13. The lugs 11 may be fixed on the fore-stock 15.
