Abstract

306,649. Verney, C., and Massard, P. Dec. 16, 1927. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; barrels; stocks. -According to the invention, all the members of the locking mechanism and of the percussion mechanism of a gun having a reciprocating breech-block carrying one or more rotary locking heads in recesses therein are contained within the breechblock and trigger guard, the outer surface of the breech-block being quite smooth and flush with the corresponding surface of the barrel hoop,. whereby the top of the smallarm is free from any salient part. The construction of the gun is substantially the same as that of the gun described in Specification 283,928, except that the breech mechanism is not operated by means of a hinged lever, but by means of two pressbuttons 17. When these buttons are pressed in, they compress a spring 18 and withdraw catches 19 from notches in the plate on which the breechblock 10 slides; the breech-block may then be opened and closed, and when the press-buttons are released the breech-block is again locked in the closed position.
