Abstract

448,427. Sporting-guns. BRETTON, G., 1, Cours Fauriel, St. Etienne, Loire, France. Nov. 5, 1934, No. 31774. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 6, 1935.] [Class 119] Relates to sporting guns of the single or multi - barrel type having a hinged breechblock, According to the in vention, the pivot pin 7, Figs. 1 and.6, on the breech-block 5 is slidably mounted in longitudinal slots 8 in the breech casing 1, a handle 6 is rotatable on the pivot pin and is formed with a cam face 9 adapted to co-operate with a seat 10 on the breech casing, a spring catch 26 is provided on the handle to engage and disengage a notch 27 in the breech-block at the required moments, and a cam disc 22 is attached to the breeck-block to co-operate with a pin 25 on the breech casing, the arrangement being such that when the handle is lifted and swung back from the closed position, Fig. 6, the cam face 9 leaves the seat 10 and the spring catch 26 engages the notch 27, then the breechblock is slid back while the pin 25 is in the radial groove 24 of the cam 22 and until the pin reaches the circular groove 23. After this, the breech-block is swung up while the pin 25 rides in the circular groove 23. During this opening movement, a pin 17, on a. link 16 carried by the breech-block, pulls on a nose 15 on an extractor 13 and then slips off into an inclined slot 18 in the breech casing. The cartridges are thus withdrawn from superimposed barrels 3, 4, Fig. 2, and the extractor then returned forward by a spring 12. A spring brake 20 is provided to keep the open breech-block in position. The knob 39 of the handle is formed with a notch acting as a back-sight. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a transversely slidable safety bolt for locking the trigger springs and tumbler connections of the firing mechanism, and a modified breech mechanism in which the breech-block does not swing up but merely slides back with the handle to open the breech. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
