293,030. Maatschappij tot Vervaardiging van Snijmachines Volgens van Berkel's Patent en van Andere Werktuigen. June 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Cutting slices in succession.-In a disc knife machine of the type wherein the carriage is reciprocated by hand, a movable hand-member, the feed screw and associated mechanism are combined together and arranged at the front of the machine. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the feed screw 6 is shielded by a slotted cylindrical casing 9, the feed nut 8 being carried on the feed table 5 by a bracket 24 and a lever 22 pressed towards the screw 6 by a spring 25. The casing 9 is fixed at one end in one of two brackets projecting from the reciprocating carriage, the screw 6 being journaled at this end in the casing and at the other end in the other bracket. The oscillating hand-member is journaled on the casing 9 and comprises end portions 17, carrying stops 11, 12 which contact with stops 13, 14 on the carriage, and joined by the transverse portion 10. One portion 17 carries a pawl 19 which engages a ratchet wheel 20 on the feed screw 6, and the slice thickness is varied by adjusting the ratchet shroud 21. The knife may be driven by an electric motor. Specification 202,902 is referred to.
