Abstract

247,179. Berkel, C. F. M. van. Feb. 3, 1925, [Convention date]. Cutting slices in succession.-In a slicing- machine, the meat table is given an arcuate movement about a point located above the said table and moves parallel, or substantially parallel, to the cutting-edge of the knife. As shown in Fig. 1, the table 5 is supported from an arm 11, attached to the standard 2, by a ball suspension member 10 carried on an arm 9 secured to the table. The table 5 is also supported by rollers 28, 29 which run in an arcuate track 17 and are carried by members 16 depending from the table. The arm 9 is secured to a member 12 which is secured to a band 13 of steel or other material. The band 13 is wound around and secured to a disc 14 having a free-wheel driving-connection with the knife-shaft 3. A coil spring is interposed, on the shaft 3, between the disc 14 and the bracket 2, one end of the spring being secured to the disc and the other to the bracket. Oscillation of the table 5 oscillates the member 12 and thereby rotates the knife. The slice-feed is effected by oscillation of the operating-handle 19 which is connected to the pawl lever 22 by a rod 21, the feed-screw 27, on which the ratchet wheel 25 is mounted, being clutched to the feed table 6 by a feed nut 30.
