March 19, 1930, No. 8784. Convention date, March 19, 1929. [Class 28 (ii).] In a slicing-machine the knife is tiltable to extend over the slice receiver, the inclined cutting plane ensuring that the slices will fall flat on the receiver. The invention is applicable to slicing- machines in general, but as shown is applied to a machine having a disc knife journalled in a swinging arm. The frame b of the machine is secured by dowels t to a plate u pivoted at p to the soleplate a which carries the slice-receiving plate m. The inclination of the plate u and thus of the knife d is varied by nuts r, s on a pivoted bolt q. The knife is driven through gearing by a motor f, and the arm e, which is relieved from strain by a member z and guide y, is swung by a handle w. The substancecarrying table n is pivoted at o to the frame b so that the positioning or removal of the substance may be facilitated by swinging the table down to a horizontal position. The table n is provided with a suitable holder, not shown, e.g. a feed table to which the substance is clamped.
