Abstract
512,852. Slicing-machines. BERKEL & PARNALL'S SLICING MACHINE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. (Maatschappij Van Berkel's Patent N.V.). March 22, 1938, No. 8734. [Class 28 (ii)] The knife 1 of a slicing-machine is so arranged that the cut is effected as the carriage 9 travels in the direction of the arrow B towards the. operator's position A. The slice conveyer 4 is oscillated by a cam or eccentric, on the crankshaft 14 which actuates a rocking-lever 21 having a quadrant 24 meshing with a pinion 25 on the conveyer. The slice is attached to the prongs 23 by a plate 8 as the conveyer moves it to the discharge position in front of the fly 7 which deposits it on the receiver 3. The substance may be fed to the knife by positive feed-mechanism, or by hand, spring or gravity feed means involving the use of an adjustable slice-thickness gauge. The knife,is driven by bevel gearing 17, and the fly 7 is driven, in known manner, by a cam on the crank-shaft 9. In modifications, the carriage is of the pushpull type, or the knife may be driven by a motor, the carriage being driven from the knife drive. The slice-thickness gauge plate, if provided, may be pivotally mounted to facilitate cleaning, and the knife may have an abutment plate which is pivoted for cleaning.
