Abstract

336,847. Mac-Roh Sales & Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Rohwedder, O. F.). Nov. 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Inverted harrow endless-chain conveyers.-A loaf fed forward by an endless band conveyer 11 is cut into slices in a single operation by a number of band cutters 47, the cutting edges of which lie in the same vertical plane and adjacent members of which move in opposite directions. The cut slices are then carried away by a conveyer 11<1> similar to the conveyer 11 and may be conveyed to a wrapping machine. The machine is driven from a motor 24 that drives the band cutter actuating shaft 64 at a high rate of speed through gears 68, 67 and the feeding and delivering conveyers at a lower rate through gears 17, 16. The conveyers are provided with transverse members 25 provided with slots in which projecting fingers 26 to engage the loaves are adjustably secured by a pressure bar 28 clamped by screws 27. Side belts 10 retain the loaves on the conveyer.
