Abstract
644,032. Cutting fruit peel. BINGHAM & GO: PROPRIETARY, Ltd., D. W. June 30, 1947, No. 17221. Convention date, July 30, 1946. [Class 5(i)] A machine for slicing fruit peel comprises two gangs of transversely spaced intermeshing knives 13 positioned out of registry so that adjacent peripheral portions of the two gangs overlap without touching, means for feeding the peel to the knives and cross-cutting means for dividing the peel transversely. As shown, peel is fed by a conveyer 3 and is compressed by a roller 9 and gripped between a roller 11 and a feed plate 8, the rollers 9, 11 having intermeshing transversely spaced rows of teeth 12. Guide plates 21, 22 are provided having fingers 20 which intermesh with the knives 13. The crosscutting means comprises blades 23 mounted on a spider 24. The knives 13, rollers 9, 11 and the cross-cutting means are interconnected by gearing and driven by an electric motor.
