Abstract

1,121,848. Guillotine cutting-machines. H. PIERRET, L. PIERRET, C. L. C. PIERRET, M. J. R. PIERRET and J. M. M. R. PIERRET. 3 Nov., 1965 [3 Nov., 1964], No. 46598/65. Heading B4B. [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] Apparatus for cutting up textile fibre waste, nylon threads etc., comprises an upper knife 2, Fig. 2, mounted on a plate 4 supported by two upright bars 5, 6 so as to be reciprocable in front of the cutting edge of a lower fixed knife 1. The bars 5, 6 are parallel and coupled at their ends 7, 8 to driving cranks 9, 10 keyed on a shaft 11 driven by a motor 12, Fig. 7, and belt transmission 13. The movable knife has cutting edges on both sides to permit inversion when an edge is worn. The knife 1 is held by its ends 30 in a chassis 31 by adjustable rack pieces 32. Thread for cutting is placed on a conveyer (see Division B8) and is fed between rollers 34, 35 provided with a water-tight seal arrangement. The rollers and conveyer band are driven via a shaft 46 and a crank and clutch arrangement (see Division F2) continuously or intermittently according to the desired length of the cut materials, and the spacing of the rollers is adjustable by means of an articulated support 61, Fig. 8, according to the thickness of the layer of materials to be cut.
