Abstract

1,170,562. Cutting meat. A. VISCONTI. 9 Feb., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 6603/68. Heading A4C. In a machine for cutting meat into cubes the meat is fed from a hopper 5 to a horizontal screw feeding device 7 from where it is forced between reciprocating sets of blades 22 and 23 to be cut into strips of square cross-section and on emerging from said moving blades the strips are cut into cubes by a rotary blade 4 adjacent the outermost set of moving blades. The moving blade die 3 comprises a stationary frame 15 and two sets of moving blades 22 and 23 being carried and blocked at the ends thereof by carrier-members 24-25 and 26-27 respectively and connected by means of independent systems of eccentrics 29, 31, 39, 41 and pulleys to a single motor 64. The rotary blade 4 is caused to move close to the outermost blade set 22 by means of shaft 46 carrying gear wheel 49 intermeshing with a gear wheel 33 or shaft 32, on to which the bearing 24 is also connected by rotary member 31. In an alternative embodiment (Fig 4, not shown) the rotary blade 4 is driven via a speed changer.
