Abstract

1,066,536. Cutting webs. AGFA-GEVAERT A.G. Jan. 11, 1966 [Jan. 12, 1965], No. 1274/66. Heading B4B. A method of cutting webs comprises moving a web past a guillotine comprising a rotating disc with at least one sickle-shaped blade projecting radially from the circumference of the disc the plane of the blade being inclined to the surface of the web and to the plane of the disc, and the axis of the disc being at an acute angle to the direction of travel of the web. Apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a rotary disc with a sickle-shaped blade 1 the plane of which is inclined at an angle a to the plane of the disc, the axis of the disc being inclined at an angle (#, Fig. 3) to the direction of travel of the web. The web is fed by means of rollers (12, Fig. 2) adjustably coupled, by means of gear-wheels, to the blade 1 which co-operates with a spring- influenced blade 3.
