632,300. Cutting slices in succession. BERKEL & PARNALL'S SLICING MACHINE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Oct. 9, 1946, No. 30122. Convention date, March 7, 1942. [Class 28(ii)] In a reciprocating table, disc knife slicing machine, the slice-thickness gauge is wholly supported by guide means provided on the bracket to which the slicing knife is journalled and located above or about the level of the top of the gauge. The thickness comprises a circular knife 1, the shaft 2 of which is journalled in a bracket 3. The machine also includes a gauge plate 6 rigidly supported wholly by guide means above it. The guide means include a rod 7 which is slidable in a bearing in an arm 8 which is formed integrally with the bracket or framework of the machine 3. A finger knob 9 is journalled at the end of the arm 8 and has a short shaft incorporating a toothed pinion 10 which meshes with rack teeth formed on top of the guide rod 7, the arrangement being such that by turning the knob 9, the rod 7 is moved transversely, the gauge plate being correspondingly adjusted.
