Class 28(2) A slicing machine is provided with a' gravity-feed substance holder 13, steeply inclined to the disc knife 6 for oblique cutting, when the holder is swivelled by hand about a bearing pin 16 across the knife by its handle 18. The bearing pin 16 unites in one line the fixed bracket 11 to the swivelled bracket 15 carrying the holder 13. The holder 13 may be of V or channel-section, open towards the knife and may be swung up out of the way or clamped in any other position, by an abutment screw 22. The holder 13 may be an attachment to an ordinary slicing machine in which the usual feed carriage 7 is reciprocated horizontally.
