Abstract

529,632. Wood cutting machine details. ROBINSON & SON, Ltd., T., and ROBINSON, F. B. June 6, 1939, No. 16643. [Class 145 (i)] A cutter head for wood-working machines is fitted with wedge-shaped cutters 8 titting into wedge-shaped recesses in the head enlarged at the periphery to accommodate a wedge-shaped block 10 which may be forced against the cutter by means of the set-screw 11. The position of the cutter may be adjusted by hand prior to clamping up or may be adjusted by rotating the screw 13. In a modification, the block is parallel-sided but has a lateral recess engaged by a clamping screw substantially tangential with the periphery of the head. As applied to a built-up head the tool is traversed for adjustment by the screw 19, Fig. 3, and is finally clamped by the outer sections of the head which has a tapered face bearing on the tapered tool.
