Abstract

550,077. Rotary cutting heads for woodworking &c. MONNINGER, Ltd., C. D., and ALLSOP, F. W. July 4, 1941, No. 8491. [Class 145 (i)] A rotary cutting head for vertical spindle woodworking and like machines of the type comprising a body in the form of a cutter-block 10 with slots or gaps 12 in its periphery with outwardly converging walls 14, 16 and means for clamping cutting blades in said slots, has the slots so formed that the faces against which the blades 18, 20 bear when in operation are set angularly at different angles to the radial planes in which the centre points of the outer ends of the abutment faces lie, to facilitate the cutting of hard and soft woods respectively. The two faces referred to may be in the same gap as shown, one blade being inoperative during the action of the other, or the faces may be in different gaps.
