Abstract

989,133. Machine tool details. SAUNDERSON & COSTIN Ltd. April 2, 1964 [April 2, 1963; Dec. 23, 1963], Nos. 13046/63 and 50757/63. Heading B3B. A lathe tool comprises a head 2 rotatably mounted on one end of a shank 1, a blade 4 clamped against one side of the head between a clamp plate 6, screwed to an adjacent side of the head and overlying the blade, and a face 5 of a recess, and means 16 for angularly adjusting the head. The blade is supported at its cutting edge by a projection 8. The head is mounted on the shank by a screw 14 passing through a spigot 12. Adjustment of the screw 16 determines the angle of the head and hence the helix angle of threads cut with the tool. In a modification, the spigot 12<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6, is formed on the shank and the adjustment screw 23 has a groove 24 engaged by a plunger on the head. A dial on the end of the screw indicates the amount of adjustment.
