Abstract

1,088,465. Cutting tools. CINTRIDE Ltd. Nov. 9, 1964 [Aug. 7, 1963], No. 31073/63. Headings B3B, B3K and B3L. A cutting tool of the type having a removable hard metal insert secured to a holder by a clamp comprises an insert 14 having at least one circular countersunk recess 20, and a clamp 15 screwed to the stock 10 by a screw 16. The clamp has a lug 19 on the forward end thereof shaped to co-operate with the countersunk recess 20 and a lug 18 at the rear end engaging a slot 17 in the stock so that, when the clamp screw is tightened, the insert is urged into engagement with the recess 11 in the stock. In an alternative embodiment the insert is provided with two countersunk recesses and the clamp has corresponding co-operating lugs. The tool may be used in machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, planing machines etc.
