Class 145 A rotary cutter head comprises a pair of main cutters 12 and one or more auxiliary grooved cutters 23 arranged edgewise to incise the wood grain at the edges of the grooves to be cut, the auxiliary cutters being adjustable parallel to the axis of rotation of the head by screw means. Each auxiliary cutter is a close fit in a groove 38 .in the head and its end 27, which is slotted at 28 to provide for radial adjustment, is held between a pair of screwed clamping members 36, 37 fitted in a screwed bore 35 into which the groove 38 extends. After adjustment of the cutter position by rotating the clamp 37 by means of a key extending through a large hexagonal hole 41 in the upper clamp 36 into a smaller hexagonal hole 42 in the lower clamp, the upper clamp, which has a spigot 40 fitting into the slot 28, is tightened down to secure the cutter in position. If the desired adjustment of the crank-shaped cutters is impeded by the parts 43 of the body, the cutters may be removed, inverted and re-inserted. In modified clamping means, Fig. 5, a plug 44 or 52 is adjustable in a screwed bore 35a or 35b and the cutter is either held in engagement with a shoulder 48 on the plug 44 by a nut 47 screwing on a spigot of the plug or is held against the bottom of the plug 52 by a flanged nut 55 which is adjustable by a screw 56 and has a squared portion 59 closely engaging the slot 28 of the cutter. Index marks may be provided on the clamping members and on the head. The auxiliary cutters may be inclined to the plane of rotation by suitable shaping or by inclining the screwed bores. The main cutters 12 may each be clamped by a rectangular block 14, screw 16 and nut 15 and be backed by a member 19, similarly to the cutters of the head described in Specification 631,652:
