Abstract

701,004. Rotary wood-working cutters. TONG, M. P. April 28, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 9916/51. Class 145 (1) A rotary wood-working cutter head 1 has two or more holes 3 in each of which is fitted a rotatable sleeve 4 having an eccentric bore for the shank 5 of a cutter 6. By rotation of the sleeve 4 by means of a tool 13 fitting in a slot 12, each cutter can be adjusted in the axial direction of the head in order to vary the width of cut. The sleeve and cutter are locked in position by a screw 7 which has a plain portion 11 projecting through an arcuate slot 9 in the sleeve and bearing against the bottom of an elongated slot 10 in the cutter shank. A bolt 14 provides for radial adjustment of each cutter. The holes 3 may be radial or inclined to a radius and may be relatively offset in the axial direction. Flat cutters for surfacing or other work can be secured to the head by wedges 2.
