475,624. Milling and boring cutters. BALFOUR, F. H., MACHAN, A., and ALLEN, H. J. J. March 22, 1937, No. 8319. [Class 83 (iii) In a milling, boring, reaming, or like rotary tool a cutter bit 1 of high speed steel or tipped with tungsten carbide or alloy known under the Registered Trade Mark "Stellite" is held in a slot in the body A by means of a wedge 3 secured by a screw 4. The coacting faces of the bit and wedge are serrated at 1b to provide lateral adjustment of the cutting edge 1c, and the base 1a of the slot is inclined as shown in Fig. 2 to provide simultaneous radial adjustment, the cutter bit being at all times in contact with the inclined base of the slot. The wedge may be tapered on one side only, as shown, with the side 2 parallel to the axis of the screw 4, or both sides may be tapered.
