Abstract

647,437. Rotary cutters. TONG, M. P. March 3, 1948, No. 6663. [Class 145(i)] A head for a rotatable cutting tool of the kind adapted to carry a blade or blades projecting from the cylindrical face of the head, is characterized in that at least one of the circular edges is chamfered or round-nosed as at 6 and that each blade is clamped by a sliding wedge 13 against a blade clamping face 11 lying non-radially, with respect to the cutter head axis, in a diverging recess 10. The wedges are moved along the slideway 14 by bolts 15, rotatably mounted in counter-sunk recesses 17, which are prevented from axial movement by bushes 20, held by fins 21 and bearing against collars 18 on the bolts. The threaded parts of the bolts enter tapped holes in the wedges.
