Abstract

274,236. Goddard, J. W., and Priest nall, A. May 10, 1926. Circular-saw machines.-In a wood-working machine of the kind using a cross-cut saw, the cutter spindle 8, which is driven directly by an electro-motor, is mounted so as to be angularly adjustable by means of a sleeve bearing 2 at one end of a slide 4 which can be traversed on ball bearings 5, 6 across the head of a rotatable and vertically-adjustable column 32. The end of the traversing movement is cushioned by a spring stop 22, and the angular adjustment is provided with a perforated indicating sector 12 and spring pin 14, as well as a clamping handle 10. The rotation of the column is indicated on a collar 36 similarly graduated, and is stopped by a clamp 44. The bearings 5, 6 are adjusted downwards and upwards respectively by means of eccentric pins 25, and lateral adjustment is afforded by an adjustable strip 24 sliding on a machined guide 31. A dust guard 62<a> is mounted as shown.
