Abstract

286,542. Birkigt, M. June 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.- Gas, tapped from the exhaust pipe for heating the carburettor, is first allowed to expand, to reduce its temperature. A chamber b is formed round the exhaust pipe g and connected to a pipe c, leading to a carburettor jacket e, by autogenous welding. Exhaust gas flows through a series of perforations a or a sheet of gauze to the chamber b, the perforations being arranged diametrically opposite the pipe c. The chamber b may contain an additional perforated annular partition and tubular strengthening members through which the bolts k, attaching the pipe to the cylinder, pass.
