Abstract

411,250. Exhaust-silencers. HASLAM, J. J., West Royd, Red Lane, Ainsworth, near Bolton. March 6, 1933, No. 6694. [Class 7 (ii).] A silencer comprises a cylindrical casing 2 with inlet 3 and outlet h. Near the inlet end is a dish-shaped baffle a having a number of openings therein which form inlets to tubes g which converge towards one another. The tubes are of flattened section at their ends nearer the baffle a, or may be of thin flattened section throughout. After the streams of gas from the tubes g have impinged on one another, they pass through apertures in other baffles 5, 6 of the kind described in Specification 360,560. According to the Provisional Specification, the casing may be covered with asbestos encased in a metal covering.
