Abstract

320.180. Lees, J. E., and Dewes, H. D. Aug. 16, 1928. Exhaust silencers.-A casing A has a conical inlet end B and outlet end B<1>. A plate K secured between the flanges of the casing and the end B carries three perforated tubes E with closed inner ends and supported by a plate G to. which they are welded. Two perforated tubes F, also with closed inner ends and supported by a plate H, are carried by a plate J secured between the flanges of the casing and the outlet end B<1>. The gases enter the tubes E and escape through the perforations into casing A to form a cushion, and then pass into. the tubes F whence they escape to the outlet B<1>.
