Abstract

382,418. Exhaust silencers. HANNEN, G. J., Harley, Rupert Road, Grimsby. Oct. 21, 1931, No. 29231. [Class 7 (ii).] A casing c encloses two truncated cones a, b which are apertured laterally and also at their smaller ends. The cones are oppositely arranged with the smaller ends spaced apart but in register with one another, so that exhaust gases issuing from the smaller end of one cone are directed towards the smaller end of the other. The inlet is at f and the outlet at g. In a modification, the smaller ends of the cones are provided with apertured plates. In a further modification, the end of one cone projects into the smaller end of the other. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the end of one cone a is provided with an extension k directed towards, but terminating short of the smaller end of cone b. In a still further modification the extension k projects into the smaller end of cone b.
