Abstract

250,399. Wolff, W. April 29, 1925.. Addition to 238,846 and 246,092. Exhaust - silencers. - A filling of small perforated ceramic bodies 12 is arranged to leave a central duct for the escape of the exhaust gases after their lateral passage through the filling. The bodies 12 are contained in an annular chamber 10 formed by a perforated tube 4, an outer sleeve 8, and a cover 16 secured by a bolt 15 to a plug 14 in the upper end of the tube 4. The sleeve 8 is supported by a member 9 secured in the outer casing 1 by a bolt 7 and a cross-tube 6. The bodies 12 rest on a perforated annulus 7<1>, so that some of the gases pass laterally through the chamber 10 and some pass through the annulus 7<1> and chamber 11 before entering the tube 4. A perforated cone 18 is fitted in the outlet 3.
