Abstract

1,200,441. Purifying exhaust gases. LUFTVERBESSERUNG A. G. Oct.17, 1968, No.18536/66. Heading F1B. In an afterburner device for purifying exhaust gases, air is drawn in through pipe 7 opening between constrictions 11, 12 by the exhaust flow and the mixture ignited in chamber 4. The restriction 12 is formed by a frusto-conical tube 10 fixed around the downstream end of the Venturi restriction 9. A non-return valve 17 prevents exhaust gas escaping through pipe 7 when a backfire occurs. Perforated screen 14, 16 are placed across the inlet and outlet of the chamber 4 which contains two igniters 15.
