Abstract
1305887 Burners ROLLS-ROYCE (1971) Ltd 1 July 1971 30823/71 Heading F4T [Also in Division F1] The invention relates to ignition equipment for reheat combustion equipment of a gas turbine engine. The ignition equipment comprises a cylindrical member 22 into which extends a duct 17 to which a supply of metered fuel is supplied, also through inlet duct 21, a supply of air under pressure from the engine compressor, the fuel and air discharging through outlet 25 into the cylindrical member. The cylindrical member is open at its upstream end for inflow of turbine exhaust gases, and a baffle plate 23 is disposed at its downstream end to provide an annular outlet 26 through which the mixture of fuel, air and exhaust gases discharges subsequently impinging on a catalytic ignition device 19 disposed downstream of the member 22 and which causes the mixture to ignite. The combustion gases are utilized to ignite reheat fuel which is supplied through injectors, not shown. An annular flame holding gutter is disposed downstream of the igniter. The baffle plate may alternatively be perforate to allow a portion of the mixture to flow therethrough.
