Abstract

1,039,161. Exhaust silencers. W. EBERSPACHER and H. EBERSPACHER, [trading as J. EBERSPACHER]. April 16, 1963 [April 21, 1962], No. 14952/63. Class F1B. An exhaust silencer comprises a straight through silencer 1, having a perforated pipe 5 passing through expansion chambers 4a . . . 4c, the outlet 5c of which forms an ejector inducing air through passage 9 into a flame damping chamber 7. The tube 5 is supported in partitions 3a, 3b, and may be in two portions 5a, 5b, connected by a sleeve 6a, the portions being free to slide in the supports. The ejector tube 5c has a central air inlet passage 10 in addition to the annular passage 9 and a deflector 11 assists mixing of the air and exhaust gases. Blades 12a may be supported on the end of the body 11, the blades being overlapped so as to obstruct a direct view into the chamber 7.
