Abstract

1,099,612. Exhaust silencers. MIDAS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. July 20, 1965 [Jan. 11, 1965], No. 30809/65. Heading F1B. A straight through silencer comprises a perforated tube 11 surrounded by sound absorbing material 14 and provided with apertures 17 adjacent which flanges 18 project into the tube 11 at right angles to the axis. The flanges 18 may be on the leading or trailing edges of openings 17 and the material 14 is preferably arranged to provide spaces 23 over the openings 17. The inlet 15 may be inclined to the silencer axis to direct the incoming gas against one of the sets of baffles 18.
