Abstract
256,066. Borghese, Prince O. Aug. 25, 1925. Exhaust-silencers. - Exhaust gas, entering the silencer by a pipe F, meets a conical member D which deflects it into an annular expansion chamber A through holes d<1> in a curved flange d; the exhaust then passes through holes g, in a spherical diaphragm D<1>. into a second annular expantion chamber B, and then through holes i, of varying size, into a pipe C; it is then ejected by suction produced in a chamber E by the flow of air through pipes H owing to the motion of the vehicle to which the silencer is attached.
