Feedwater, controlling.- In a feed regulator of the kind in which the leakage of water past a piston connected to the feed valve is controlled bv a needle valve 14 operated by a float chamber in free communication with the boiler, the steam pressure acting on the spindle of the needle valve in the float chamber is balanced by connecting the foat lever 8 on the side of the pivot 9 opposite the connection of the needle valve to a piston 18 projecting into the valve box. The upper end of the piston is acted upon by the pressure of the leakage water, which enters the valve box through a port 22. The diameter of the piston is smaller than that of the needle valve.
