Abstract

642,862. Feedwater regulators for steam boilers. McDONALD, J. Aug. 14, 1948, No. 21512. [Class 123(ii)] [Also in Group XI] The level of water in an electrode steam boiler 13 is controlled by an externallylocated float-valve assembly 26 which is connected by elbows 24, 24 to short pipes 22, 23 projecting from an upper feedwater supply tank 12 and the boiler proper respectively and the vertical position of which, with respect to the boiler, may be adjusted by replacing the said elbows by elbows of relatively different lengths. In a modification the valve assembly 26 is mounted between swivelling pipes extending substantially horizontal from the said tank and boiler. The steam space of the boiler and the casing 25 of the float valve communicate with the upper end of the tank 12 through pipes 28, 27 respectively, and the tank is provided with a water inlet 21 and a steam outlet 30 and the boiler preferably with a valve-controlled hotwater outlet, not shown.
