Abstract

575,892. Steaming-ovens. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CARMALT, L. H. Feb. 22, 1943, No. 2910. [Class 51 (ii)] The bottom of an oven 5, which is supplied with steam from an associated gas or electrically &c. heated boiler 1 having a steam outlet pipe 4 of relatively large diameter leading to the oven and a feed-water inlet pipe 9 in communication with an open water tank 7, is provided with a vent pipe 6 so that the boiler is indirectly open to the atmosphere. A back flow of hot water through the pipe 9 is prevented or reduced by bending or forming a portion 10 of its length into inverted U-shape and providing the latter with a riser 11 which opens above the tank 7. The level of water in the tank 7 may be controlled by a ball valve.
