Abstract

648,121. Compound steam boilers. SPANNER BOILERS, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1948, No. 30722. [Class 123(ii)] In a marine steam-generating installation in which a waste heat boiler A delivers steam through valve B and B1 or B2 to an operative or non-operative separately-fired auxiliary boiler C having a steam outlet D leading to auxiliary engines E, the latter exhaust into a condenser F from which the condensate flows to a hot well G provided with a float H which controls the operation of a feed pump K in such a manner that the quantity of feedwater delivered to said main boiler A is equivalent to the steam demand. The level of water in the auxiliary boiler C is maintained constant by an internal syphon pipe L, open at both ends, which is in communication with the suction pipe Q of the feed pump K through a valve M, steam trap N and diffuser pipe P. Specifications 569,000 and 641,446 are referred to.
