Abstract
29,618. Gordon, J. C. Dec. 23. Feed - water, supplying.-Apparatus for returning the water of condensation in a closed system, or for supplying fresh feed-water, consists of a chamber 1 connected to the boiler, steam and water spaces and a water-inlet pipe 7, which passes into the chamber and has a non- return valve 8 at its lower end. Condensation water in the pipe 7 passes through a non- return valve, and owing to its momentum rises to a higher level in the chamber than in the pipe. When the apparatus is used for supplying fresh feed, the connexions 2, 3 with the boiler are throttled. Cold feed-water in the pipe 7 condenses the steam in the chamber thus reducing the pressure and allowing water to flow from the pipe into the chamber.
