Abstract

Feed-water, heating.-In a condensing reciprocating engine or turbine steam plant, the drainage from the cylinders or stages is led by pipes 12, 11 to a chamber or hot well 7 below the condenser to give up its heat to the condensate therein. The fluid may operate an ejector 13 immersed below the surface of the condensate or leading into the pipe connection between the hot well 7 and pump 8. The resulting liquid is used as boiler feed. In a modification, a chamber is arranged between and connected to two hot wells and two pumps. The drip discharge enters the side of the chamber and produces a vortex flow.
