Abstract
641,446. Feedwater supply systems for steam boilers. SPANNER BOILERS, Ltd. Aug. 12, 1948, No. 22961/47. [Class 123(ii)] Feedwater is continuously supplied to a boiler A in quantity slightly in excess of its requirements by a pump L, and a constant water level B is maintained in the boiler by an overflow pipe D which is controlled by an inlet valve C located at the said level B and directs the excess water through a steam trap E and discharge pipe F to the pump suction pipe J leading from the hot well K. A reducing valve G may be interposed in the pipe F. As shown, the valve C communicates with a syphon pipe N which depends within the boiler down to the feed check valve M and is provided at its upper end with a steam leak port O. In a modification, (not shown), the pipe N is of half-round cross-section and is welded to the inner surface of the boiler shell to extend between the two valves C, M.
