269,965. Toth, C. J. Jan. 22, 1926. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Reversing.-In a twin-cylinder engine, the pistons of a pair of cylinders drive through connecting-rods on the same crank or on cranks in phase, the cylinders being arranged with their axes one on either side of a plane passing through the crank shaft. As a, consequence one piston has a lead over the other. The combustion chambers communicate through a passage k. If the engine is to run in either direction, each cylinder is provided with a fuel-injection valve n and the passage k is made horizontal. Whichever direction of rotation is being used, the leading piston controls the exhaust and fuel is injected into that cylinder only.
