Abstract

299,602. Johnston, J. W. July 12, 1928. Four-stroke-cycle engines.-In a twin-cylinder engine the induction port i in the cylinder a and the exhaust port j in cylinder b are controlled by sleeves valves a<1>, b<1>. The line joining the centres of the cylinders as seen in Fig. 2 is at an angle to the crank shaft axes x, x so that the connecting rods which work on one crank pin a<4> are not excessively inclined at the commencement of the power stroke.
